Hello friends,
Somehow a whole month has sprinted past without a sketch stack or newsletter making its way to your inboxes. So I’m packing a lot into this over-due update!
First of all, I want to say a warm welcome to all the newcomers here who I met at Bookmarks Book Festival a few weeks back. What a lovely event it was, with even more lovely people. It doesn’t get much better than spending a gorgeous day outside, surrounded by fellow book lovers.
Bookmarks happened to fall on the same weekend as Hurricane Helene though, and while all was well here in Triangle, the devastation it brought to Western North Carolina was a lot to process. The losses and disruptions from the storm are huge and the recovery process will be long.
And yet in the midst of it all, it has been a gift to witness how determined, hopeful, loving North Carolinians are coming together in ways big and small to support our WNC neighbors.
Just this past week, our fantastic creatives meet-up group, Artistigators, had a fundraiser that raised over $6,000 for WNC artists who were affected by the storm.
As the storm’s damage fades away from the headlines, the process of building back this beloved corner of our state will continue in the months and years ahead. At the end of this newsletter I’ve linked a few organizations who are focused specifically on supporting the arts, and if you are able and eager to help, please take a look.
In other news, this month has been a hurried rush of working on projects I adore but cannot fully show yet. I’ve had a blast though, playing around with a lot of design work & developing festive, victorian-esque props and background elements.
I am also happy to say that new inventory is making its way into the shop this week, and that all of my new items will be released this Friday. I have several products that I have only been selling at in-person events, but am excited to now make available online as well. So be on the lookout for a shop update coming your way at the end of the week!
Many thanks to you all for reading along. May you each be met by a clear breeze and crunchy leaves as autumn comes rolling in.
